ご挨拶が遅くなってしまいましたが、皆様、新年明けましておめでとうございます。

極寒の北海道、札幌に帰ってきました。毎日-3℃から-15℃を繰り返す、一面の雪に覆われた、北海道。
年中比較的暖かくて雪にはお目にかかれないサンフランシスコに慣れた体は、びっくりしているよう。

辛抱強く待ったかいがあり、O-1ビザ更新申請が無事に承諾され、アメリカで芸術活動をしていく可能性が、また広がりました。2014年は、新たな可能性を探りながら、また違った角度から色んな事に挑戦していける一年にしたいなという思いと、一度ルーツに戻り、書と自分を見つめ直すという意味から、日本を拠点にしてしばらく活動しようと思います。またどんどん面白いことをやっていきたい。見た事のないものを創っていきたい。世界のより多くのひとびとと繋がっていきたい。足下から根を張って、できることをひとつひとつ。

今年は、私の活動を通して触れるもの目にするもの感じたこと、もっと頻繁にアップして共有していけたらと思います。
毎年思う事なのですが、、継続は力なりですね。

Dear my friends and families in the world,

A Happy New Year!

Please excuse me for such a late New Year greetings. I have just returned to my home sweet home – Sapporo, Hokkaido. It’s completely different world from California: the temperature goes back and forth between -3℃ and -15℃ everyday, everything is covered in white snow. My body is taking its sweet time to get adjusted to this big change. Slowly getting over the jet lag – and now my brain is ready to express and absorb new exciting things.

I had a great news at the end of last year 2013 – my O-1 visa extension was approved for 3 more years!
I’d like to say thank you all, each one of you who generously supported me for this visa process. And of course, all of my amazing friends who have come to my shows, art sales, performances and farewell parties. Thank you so so much. I truly love you all.

To celebrate the beginning of a new chapter of my life, I have decided to work based in Japan this year. I have relocated my studio back to Hokkaido, Japan starting from January 2014. The length of my residence here in Japan is undetermined, but I will go back and forth between the U.S. and Japan for projects and shows. I am excited to revisit my roots, re-learning calligraphy and its history, and connect with new creative minds here, and in more cities in the world. Stepping out from the comfort zone, I want to challenge new things in a different environment, and re-evaluate my visions and goals.

I also wish to update my blog more often –  and share what I experienced, what I saw, what I felt more eloquently and frequently.
